Un aliante monoposto nato alla fine degli anni 30 in Germania.
Struttura molto semplice e nel contempo robusta: due ali centinate, rivestite di robusta stoffa, sono collegate alla parte alta del corpo centrale che ospita il seggiolino del pilota.
É di una semplicitā e robustezza sconcertante, l'intera struttura č di legno con una parte metallica che sostiene la slitta sotto il sedile. Bulloneria e tiranti in acciaio irrobustiscono l'insieme.

Costruito su licenza in Francia con il nome S.N.C.A.N. Nord 1300 Grunau Baby, in Brasile con il nome "Alcatraz", in Inghilterra chimato "Elliots Baby", era un aliante monoposto il cui primo volo risale al 1931.
Fu uno degli alianti usati per la formazione dei piloti della Germania quando erano ancora in vigore le sanzioni degli alleati vincitori della prima guerra mondiale.
Fu costruito in migliaia di esemplari in una ventina di paesi, per la semplicitā strutturale e facilitā costruttiva.
Disegnato da Edmund Schneider, Wolf Hirth (campione di volo a vela) e Hugo Kromer.
Aliante con ala alta sostenuta da un castelletto, era un velivolo strutturato secondo le regole costruttive dell'epoca che prevedeva cockpit per percepire direttamente le correnti d'aria ascendenti e le variazioni di temperatura.
Edmund Schneider emigrato in Australia sviluppō i modelli Baby 3 e Baby 4 che avevano dei cockpits chiusi.

É un aliante considerato fra i migliori velivoli per i corsi di pilotaggio.

Il Schleicher Ka 8 e un aliante monoposto progettato da Rudolf Kaiser e costruito dalla Alexander Schleicher aircraft construction GmbH & Co.
É un velivolo con un'eccellente manovrabililitā e ideale per coloro che si accostano al volo agli alianti per la prima volta.
Grazie alla sua grande manovrabilitā, il K8 presenta alcuni vantaggi rispetto al biposto, agisce magnificamente anche in presenza di termiche deboli che gli permettono di competere anche con i moderni alianti di vetroresina.
Con apertura alare di 15 mt e una superficie alare di 14,15 m˛ possiede un ottimo grado di efficienza.
